Florida Critters

Thursday 5/1

What a great way to start the day!  Back Country Trail connects to our park and has more than 11 miles of beautiful paved trails for biking or walking.  We decided to try the Rosemary Dunes trail.  There was a yellow caution tape covering the path which was covered with water.  Dave and Eli went through the water anyway.  I was a little reluctant but finally joined them.  I am so glad we continued on as we were able to meet Lefty, the resident alligator as he was sunbathing on the trail.  We traveled about 9.5 miles and was a great ride with sandy, tropical "old Florida" kind of views.

Yesterday, the Gulf Shores Pier was closed due to the rain and flooding.  So we decided to check and see if it was open and it was.  Yay!  We paid $2.00 a person to walk out on it and spent almost 2 hours just watching people fishing and taking in the gorgeous views of the ocean and shoreline.

We ended the evening by taking flash lights out to the flooded areas in our park and discovered some very interesting creatures.  We saw several "crawdaddys", as well as frogs, polywogs and a snake.  It was crazy fun and doesn't take much to entertain us.  You are probably wondering why I went?  Well....because it was my idea.  LOL!
